October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
A note from one of our members, Denise Sturm:
My best friend, Karen Michael, lost the battle fighting this horrible disease in December of 2005 at the age of 31. In honor of her memory and in hope that the answer will come soon enough for others who are facing this battle, I am asking for your help .
An event is held every year called, “Making Strides against Breast Cancer” and is being held in the Metro Orlando Area this year on Saturday, October 18th. I have personally attended this event for 4 years and this will be our 3rd year without Karen waiting for us at the finish line. This cause is very special to me, as well as her family and friends who will participate. I have started a team under the name of “Karen’s Angels on Earth”. You will find information about this event through the link listed below. Please feel free to join the team and walk by my side in memory of Karen or someone you know who has been affected by this disease. If you won’t be able to attend, and can donate even $5.00, that’s $5.00 that will go towards research to end this disease. All donations are tax deductible and you can donate online.
Thanks to each and every one of you who has supported this cause through the years with Karen’s family and friends. It is my sincere hope that this disease never touches you or anyone you love. It’s our responsibility to make sure that it never has the chance. Please see the link below to get started.
Thanks again,
Denise Sturm
Here are directions to join a team or donate to the cause:
- Go to makingstrides.acsevents.org
- Click on Join a team (if they want to walk) or donate if they only want to donate to the event.
- The team name is “Karen’s Angels on Earth”
- Follow the steps from there…
Thank you in advance for you support and help with a disease that has touched all of us.
